World-Class Ethanol Production Facility Breaking Ground in Kansas

(Colwich, Kan. – May 21, 2018)ELEMENT, LLC,a biofuels producer leading the way for technology innovation and efficiency, announces that it held a ceremonial groundbreaking today at 3:30 p.m. of its $175 million dollar facility in Colwich. This facility will create hundreds of jobs along with a new market for local corn producers. Members of ELEMENT management as well as local government officials and businesses were in attendance.

The multimillion dollar project is expected to utilize more than 300,000 construction man-hours and create approximately 200 direct and indirect jobs. ELEMENT will also provide an economic boost to the agriculture community by purchasing more than 22 million bushels of grain annually. The additional demand in grain is expected to generate millions of dollars in revenue for local corn producers.

ELEMENT is a collaboration between ICM Holdings, headquartered in Colwich, and The Andersons, Inc., a publicly- traded company based in Maumee, Ohio. ELEMENT has the potential to produce the most efficient and cleanest renewable ethanol in the United States by combining ICM’s next-generation technologies and The Andersons’ merchandising, risk management and logistics expertise. This facility will also create high-value cellulosic ethanol and higher-value co-products, such as animal feed and corn oil.

“When ICM designed and built our first ethanol plant in Russell, Kansas in 2001, it helped set the course for the ethanol industry for the following twenty years. ELEMENT will create a new standard for operational efficiency and clean ethanol in the industry. We have a great partner, the right technologies, and tremendously talented people who will help us achieve this,” said ICM CEO Dave VanderGriend.

Chris Mitchell, ICM President, added “ELEMENT is excited to build this technologically advanced facility adjacent to our world headquarters. We appreciate the support of the City of Colwich, Sedgwick County, the State of Kansas, and local businesses and we are eager to continue building on these strong relationships.”
