Process engineering

P&ID Interpretation:

The intern will learn how to read P&IDs. He/she will become familiar with symbols, terminology, P&ID numbering, pipeline and instrument designation system.

Ethanol Production Process:

The intern will learn the basic phases of the ethanol production process such as cook, fermentation and distillation. He/she will be acquainted with the chemicals being used at the ethanol process. He/she will learn the purpose and function of major equipment. Basic knowledge of the control scheme will be acquired.

Major Equipment:

The intern will learn about different type of equipment pieces used in an ethanol plant such as heat exchangers and pumps. He/she will learn about the different type of material used in the manufacturing the major equipment and piping.

Equipment Sizing:

The intern will learn how to size pumps and pipes by following the Cameron Hydraulic Data book and then he/she will learn how to use size them using software such as Pipe Flow Expert

Other Software:

The intern will be exposed to AutoCAD and Navisworks (navigation only)

Education/Certification:

Enrolled in college program related to Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering field required

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

This position will be located in the ICM offices. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Able to view computer screen for lengths at a time. Must be able to speak and listen clearly. Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy. May be exposed to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme hot and cold depending on weather conditions.
